KCP’s KOCOWA Debuts on The Roku Channel

For the first time, The Roku Channel provides access to Korean Entertainment

LOS ANGELES, Calif., October 28, 2020 – The Korea Content Platform, Inc. (KCP), a joint venture between the top three Korean broadcasters (KBS, MBC, and SBS), will deliver KOCOWA’s premium entertainment programs nationwide to The Roku Channel, the home of free and premium entertainment on the Roku® platform, starting on October 27, 2020. The partnership is the first time Korean television will be available on The Roku Channel, which reached U.S. households with an estimated 43 million people as of Q2. KOCOWA’s international service offers a comprehensive library of dramas, romantic comedies, competition shows, and reality series with English subtitles, in addition to new programming direct from Korea available live and on-demand.

“KCP is a powerhouse in Korean entertainment with a successful track record of delivering quality programming,” said Randy Ahn, Director, The Roku Channel Premium Subscriptions, Roku. “We’re very excited to expand our streaming experience with KOCOWA, bringing their expansive library to millions of engaged users in the U.S. on The Roku Channel.”

The Roku Channel is at the forefront of content discovery for savvy audiences looking to curate a unique TV experience and supports KCP’s goal to deliver KOCOWA content to U.S. consumers across multiple devices. KOCOWA is available for $6.99 per month with an impressive lineup of current hits, such as “Do You Like Brahms?,” “Alice,” “Running Man,” “Home Alone,” and fan-favorites, including “Extra-ordinary You,” “Coffee Prince,” and “She Was Pretty.”

“We are excited to partner with such an influential platform like Roku,” said KCP CEO, KunHee Park. “This is the first time Korean entertainment will be offered on The Roku Channel, and I believe their engaged user base matches with our audience, who is very familiar with the Roku brand. Now it will be even easier for viewers to watch shows coming out of Korea at home, fully subtitled in English.”

Within three years, KOCOWA has quickly risen as an international platform, providing a unified brand experience for Korean television. As the exclusive IP holder of over 10,000 hours of content, KOCOWA is the go-to destination for Korean entertainment. Programming is available shortly after original airtime, making KOCOWA the preferred place for fans to discover something new or watch favorite shows. KOCOWA’s slate also includes “The King of Mask Singer” and “The Good Doctor,” award-winning programs. The partnership with The Roku Channel is ideal for capturing the attention of viewers searching for new and exciting content.
